Women of Hong Kong, founded by Sarah Vee, has grown from a grassroots networking group to a 15,000-strong force for change
On January 28, more than 300 women gathered at the AIA Carnival's Etihad Harbourside VIP Lounge to celebrate the Women of Hong Kong's fifth anniversary—a network that has become synonymous with female entrepreneurship and meaningful connection in the city.
Against the backdrop of Hong Kong's harbourfront skyline, founder Sarah Vee welcomed members, partners and supporters for an evening that highlighted just how far the organisation has come. What began in 2021 as a grassroots initiative has evolved into a platform connecting women across industries and career stages—a network that recently surpassed 15,000 members.
"Celebrating five years together has been a powerful reminder of what women can build when community comes first," Vee said during the celebration. "This anniversary [isn't] just a celebration of the past five years, but a bold step toward the next chapter of growth, impact and opportunity."
Guests were treated to performances by dance groups Dance 33 and Bailadores, while band Gentle Rhythm provided live jazz that set an elegant tone throughout the night. Twelve curated brand activations gave attendees a taste of the 80 sponsors and partners who have rallied behind Women of Hong Kong's mission, and a grand prize giveaway valued at HKD 120,000 added an element of excitement to the event.
The most meaningful moment of the evening came with the announcement of Women of Hong Kong's first official charity partnership with Phenomenally Pink, a Hong Kong-based organisation supporting domestic helpers' access to essential breast health care. Funds raised during the event will provide breast ultrasound screenings for domestic helpers in the city—a tangible demonstration of the organisation's commitment to creating impact beyond its immediate membership.
Throughout the evening, speakers shared personal stories of how Women of Hong Kong has opened doors, fostered connections, and built a genuinely supportive ecosystem for women in the city.
As Women of Hong Kong enters its sixth year, the organisation continues to challenge women to reach their highest potential through events, meetups, and curated spaces for connection and learning. For Vee and the thousands of women who have found their tribe through Women of Hong Kong, this anniversary marks an exciting beginning of what's still to come.
