Mastering from root to tip

Established in 2021 by co-founders Vo Duy Phu (CEO) and Tran Le Minh Truc (COO), Every Half quickly gained attention for its distinctive business model. Tran Le Minh Truc, who brings over a decade of industry experience and previously worked as a roaster for The Coffee House, has played a pivotal role in the brand’s direction. Now operating 14 stores across Ho Chi Minh City, Every Half has achieved noteworthy milestones. By the end of 2024, it was recognised at the Flavour Awards, taking home “Coffee Shop of the Year” and “Most Favourite Coffee Shop”.

A core strength of Every Half lies in its deep involvement in a fully integrated coffee value chain, covering everything from varietal research and processing to fermentation, roasting, grinding, and serving. The brand collaborates closely with farmers and cooperatives across Dien Bien, Lam Dong, and Dak Lak to ensure a consistent and high-quality source of beans.

As climate change continues to impact global Arabica yields, Vietnam’s Robusta and other sustainable coffee varieties have grown in strategic importance. Beyond competitive advantage, this approach reflects a forward-thinking commitment to sustainability, quality, and traceability—values increasingly cherished by discerning consumers worldwide.

Million-dollar investment

The $3 million raised comes from two established investment funds: Openspace Ventures and DSG Consumer Partners. Openspace Ventures, one of Southeast Asia’s leading venture capital firms, manages an $800 million portfolio focused on consumer tech, fintech, healthcare, and software. In Vietnam, the fund has backed companies such as Finhay and Nano Vui App. DSG Consumer Partners, meanwhile, specialises in consumer goods across Southeast Asia and India, with investments in Coolmate, Chope, SaladStop!, and Saturday.

In August last year, Every Half stood out as one of the few F&B startups in Vietnam to attract foreign investment amidst a sluggish market. Though modest in size at the time, with just eight outlets and no disclosed capital figures, the move reaffirmed both the brand’s promise and the broader optimism for Vietnam’s F&B sector.

Bringing Vietnamese coffee to the world

On home soil, Every Half is eyeing a 150% growth target, with plans to scale its retail footprint and explore innovative business formats within Ho Chi Minh City. In parallel, it continues to strengthen ties with raw material regions such as Buon Ma Thuot and Lam Dong, while pushing ahead with advanced fermentation research to enhance flavour profiles.

Abroad, the next step comes in May 2025, when Every Half will begin trialling the export of its roasted coffee under its own label via e-commerce platforms across North America. It’s the beginning of a strategic journey to bring the essence of Vietnamese coffee to international palates.

“With climate change driving a shortage of Arabica, the opportunity for Every Half to introduce Vietnamese Robusta and other sustainable coffee varieties into the global supply chain is both significant and timely,” said Dennis Le, Vice President at Openspace Ventures. “We’re thrilled to support Every Half’s vision to elevate Vietnamese coffee.”

Every Half’s fundraising success highlights the burgeoning potential of Vietnam’s specialty coffee scene and paves the way for bolder ambitions abroad. This $3 million investment will serve as a vital springboard for continued expansion, brand development, and steadfast commitment to its integrated model.
