Although we are faced with our own fair share of problems in our daily lives, it's definitely beneficial to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. For instance, issues on climate change often go unnoticed despite its horrifying effects on humanity. In this article, Tatler has summed up a few documentaries that will help people understand the long-term and large scale effects of global warming.

1. The 11th Hour

The 11th Hour is a documentary showing the state of the global environment around the globe. This film is a must-watch as it also offers visionary and practical solutions that will help restore Earth's ecosystems. The show's title "Eleventh Hour" also means the last moment, taken from a passage in the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard in the King James Bible.

2. An Inconvenient Truth (2006)

The documentary An Inconvenient Truth gathers all the horrifying video clips of global warming's effects in the past 14 years. Directed by Davis Guggenheim, the film aims to support former United States Vice President Al Gore's campaign to educate people about global warming.

The show was credited for raising international public awareness of global warming and was included in science curricula in schools around the world.

3. The Last Glaciers

The Last Glaciers, which premiered in 2020, is filmmaker Craig Leeson's way of bringing a "bird's eye view" of melting rivers of ice to many screens possible. The documentary talks about the current conditions of the planet's most important and yet most neglected resources – glaciers.

“We’ve got the facts and yet we continue to go on as though nothing’s happening. That’s what drives me with this film: the need to shake people and wake them up; to shake political leaders and say to them, ‘Listen, you guys have got families, you’ve got kids. This is their future. You’re not gambling with it: a gamble indicates that you know that the result could go either way; this is actually going to happen. We’re reaching this tipping point. And we know that it’s going to collapse life support systems. Yet we’re continuing to make decisions that are not altering that course that we’re on," Leeson shared in an interview

4. This Changes Everything

The film This Changes Everything takes a jab at large companies that contribute to global warming. Filmed in nine countries and five continents over four years, the documentary is an attempt to picture the truths about climate change using the viewpoint of ordinary citizens in seven different communities. 

The documentary is inspired by the book Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate by Naomi Klein.

5. Before The Flood

Before The Flood is presented by National Geographic. It follows veteran actor Leonardo DiCaprio and his journey as a United Nations Messenger of Peace. In this film, DiCaprio travels to five continents and in the Arctic to record and witness climate change firsthand.
