I’ve always been fascinated with media and telling stories. I have a background in print publishing and have since transitioned to my website, which is a multimedia platform featuring events via Cross Cultures. I was 17 years old when I first started writing for one of the country’s national newspapers. I remember doing all my homework during recess and lunch breaks so I could spend my after-school hours writing for the newspaper or attending press conferences. I had big interviews arranged by companies such as Sony Music and MTV, so I really took it seriously.

I think it’s so important to always put ourselves in the other person’s shoes before reacting; to always remain humble; to always start and end the day with gratitude

The stories that inspire me the most are those of strong, successful women. Also, stories about people who were bullied, put down, discriminated against or who came from a difficult place or are plagued by a disability—but really went over and above to work their way out of their liabilities and detractors, and showed the world that anything is possible. I learn more and more about the world through experiences, events and the people that I meet, and am constantly inspired by such passionate people. Through my events platform, Cross Cultures, I also love creating unique experiences for our guests through food and drink, and making them happy.

For the best dining experience while travelling, just go with what you feel like. What cuisine are you craving? Are you feeling casual or are you looking forward to fine dining? I feel like sometimes people feel pressure now to tick off boxes and lists in a certain city or country, and even to visit in certain restaurants just to take a photo for social media. Lists and recommendations are always great guides, but go with what you’re feeling. You’ll come out much more satisfied and the dining experience more memorable.

My parents have helped shape the way I see the world, and also my travels. I think it’s so important to always put ourselves in the other person’s shoes before reacting; to always remain humble; to always start and end the day with gratitude; and, when facing any form of difficulty, to quote Martin Luther King: “If you can’t fly, then run; if you can’t run, then walk; if you can’t walk, then crawl; but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”
