We revealed the 40 Hong Kong honourees on the Gen.T List 2019 at an official unveiling event in the city
Hong Kong was the third city to host an unveiling event for the Gen.T List 2019. We're revealing the list in stages, with events across Asia over a number of weeks. After Taipei and Bangkok, we unveiled the 40 Hong Kong honourees on our list of 400 young leaders shaping Asia's future at a dinner and afterparty at Rosewood Hong Kong.
The dinner was attended by members of the Tatler Tribe, the panel of industry heavyweights we consult to select the list, as well as the 2019 honourees. Tribe members at the dinner included Ruth Shapiro, chief executive of the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society; Emily Lam-Ho, founder of impact investment fund Empact28; Francis Cheng, founder of Number One PR; and Danny Yeung, founder of digital healthcare company Prenetics.
During dinner, Tamara Lamunière, head of Generation T Asia, introduced guests to the Gen.T Asia Summit, a new leadership festival powered by Generation T. John Wood, Tribe member and founder of charity Room to Read, moved the audience with an inspiring speech, announcing that Gen.T had met its fundraising target of US$35,000 it set last year, and will be unveiling a Gen.T library in Cambodia in January 2020.
After dinner, guests were joined by honourees from previous Gen.T Lists and the wider community for the afterparty, to celebrate their achievements in style and witness the official public unveiling of the list. Katrina Razon, the driving force behind music and wellness festival Wonderfruit, and a past honouree of the Gen.T List, was behind the decks, keeping the crowd moving into the small hours.
At the event, we spoke to 2019 honourees Natalie Chan, founder of Own Academy, and Steve Zhao, founder of Sandbox VR, about the power of community. Tribe member Chibo Tang, partner at Gobi Partners, spoke of his hopes for this generation. Watch the video to see what they had to say.
