Today, World Podcast Day, we’re delighted to announce that Crazy Smart Asia, Gen.T’s podcast that explores the unexpected stories of Asia’s disruptors, is back for a second season.

The first episode of the second season will drop on Thursday, October 7, with episodes in the eight-part season, which is presented in partnership with BNP Paribas Wealth Management, released weekly every Thursday.

Guests this season include:

  • Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia.
  • Ankiti Bose, co-founder of near-unicorn e-commerce platform Zilingo.
  • David Yeung, founder of Green Monday and alt-protein pioneer.
  • Binod Chaudhary, business leader, politician, philanthropist and Nepal’s only billionaire.
  • Jaeson Ma, investor and co-founder of music label and management company 88rising.
  • Peggy Choi, founder of knowledge-as-a-service platform Lynk.

And more to be announced.

Last season, we were overwhelmed with the number of messages of encouragement and thanks we received from our community. The support propelled us to reach number-two in the Apple Podcasts charts in the Entrepreneurship category in Hong Kong, number-three in Singapore, number-three in the Philippines and number-five in Malaysia.

It’s thrilling to see how people have resonated with the stories we are telling, as we lift the curtain to find out how some of Asia’s brightest and boldest young leaders get it done. The goal of the podcast is to talk to the crazy-smart young leaders driving change in Asia, to understand the difference that got these unique individuals where they are today. What made them stand out, in a crowd of millions?

In the second season’s first episode, Gen.T’s regional editorial director Lee Williamson speaks with Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales on marrying both purpose and profit. Wales sets the record straight on whether he turned down billions for Wikipedia when he put the organisation in a charity foundation, and talks about the power of community, the value of failure, and why he’s not trying to be the anti-Zuckerberg.
