The acquisition will boost the digital haulier's regional fleet of first-mile vehicles by 2,000, strengthening its presence in Indonesia and the region

Haulio, Singapore’s largest digital haulier, is set to make its first overseas acquisition in Logol, a Jakarta-based logistics technology company. The news was announced during the company’s fifth-anniversary dinner.

Haulio was co-founded by Alvin Ea and Sebastian Shen with the goal of moving containers on land more efficiently. It has a network of 800 trucking and haulage companies and a fleet of 10,000 first-mile vehicles to transact and move 1.8 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) of cargo annually.

By acquiring Logol, Ea says that the 2,000 more first-mile vehicles will be added to the company’s entire fleet.

Haulio currently has presence in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia—and plans to further grow its share of Southeast Asia’s US$70 billion first-mile container logistics market. In a statement to the press, the company shared that it plans to enter into Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam next.

Haulio has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Centre of Excellence in Modelling and Simulation for Next Generation Ports, which is part of the National University of Singapore College of Design and Engineering. The plan is to jointly develop the Smart Haulage Scheduler (SHS) to increase the productivity of Singapore’s logistics sector.

“The SHS will greatly boost productivity and eliminate all manual planning activities, enabling hauling teams to have better visibility and control over their fleet and operations, and the potential to manage a larger fleet,” says Sebastian Shen.

At the same time, Haulio will be introducing its Payments Portal, an integrated e-billing payments platform that will remove the need for manual invoicing, tracking, and following up of bills.
