Pandelela Rinong claimed Malaysia's first medal at the 19th World Aquatics Championships in Budapest

Diver Pandelela Rinong won the bronze medal for the women's 10 metres platform individual event at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

The 29-year-old veteran Malaysian diver collected 338.85 points in five dives to secure the podium position. The bronze medal is Pandelela's sixth world championship medal. She previously won one silver and five bronze medals in total from the seven world championship appearances she's made so far.

Pandelela is the most senior athlete in the women's 10m platform event and had won a gold medal at the 2021 World Cup diving tournament in Tokyo.

She is set to compete in the women's 10m platform synchronised event next with her partner, Nur Dhabitah Sabri, and will defend the silver medal that she won in 2019 with her previous partner, Leong Mun Yee.
