We hosted the fourth edition of The Catalyst Series on December 9. Taking place over a private lunch in Tatler House Hong Kong, the series provides Gen.T honourees with an opportunity to learn through an open, moderated discussion with their peers as well as experts from J.P. Morgan Private Bank, with whom we have co-organised the series.
This edition featured guest speaker Jean Eric Salata, founding partner and chief executive of Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA). With over US$37 billion of assets under management, BPEA is one of the largest independent private equity firms in Asia. Salata was joined by entrepreneurs from the Gen.T community who run private companies that are either venture-backed or looking for funding, to discuss purpose, how to build a successful team and leading through humility.
Attendees at the lunch included Alvin Kwock, co-founder of fintech startup OneDegree; Candice Chan, co-founder and managing director of wellness centre LifeHub; Olivia Cotes-James, founder and CEO of period care company Luüna Naturals; Timothy Yu; founder and CEO of edtech platform Snapask; Queenie So; founder and CEO of SyZyGy, a startup focusing on experiential tech; and Ross Yip, COO of e-commerce platform Kicks Crew.
“Don't let setbacks get you down; you will always come back,” said Salata. “If you don't have any setbacks, you're not doing anything interesting.” During the lunch, Salata and the honourees also discussed the value of lifelong learning, the importance of maintaining relationships and why your team is crucial to the success of any business.
