This three-time Olympian is no stranger to competition. In 2016’s Rio Summer Games she became the first Filipino to win an Olympic medal in 20 years, taking home the silver. This also made her the Philippines’ first female athlete to win a medal at the Olympic Games! Hidilyn proudly wears the title as the first female weightlifter to finish in the top three ranking at an international championship game, as she earned three bronze medals in Houston, Texas. With all this under her belt, this go-getter already has her eyes set for the next Olympics.

She says that people should always dream big and always work hard. In 2017, she decided to open a weightlifting gym, hoping to positively impact the lives of other children from her hometown in Zamboanga. Hidilyn hopes to teach others how to focus on improving their lives by sharing her personal journey.
