A behind the scenes peek at how the Top 50 list came to be.

What is it: The Philippine Tatler Tribe is a judging panel composed of Philippine Tatler editors and esteemed individuals who are either Generation T alumni or members of society, all of whom have succeeded in their respective fields. The Tribe was responsible for nominating and helping create the final Generation T 2017 Top 50 list.

Get to know the personalities who helped curate our Top 50 Gen T list for 2017: 

JOANNA PREYSLER FRANCISCO

Joanna is a devoted wife and mother of three. She is a hands-on retailer at her local retail concepts Carbon, Tint, Eterno and the eponymous Joanna Preysler boutique. She and her husband Raul, recently opened an art gallery, Provenance, which exhibits local contemporary art. Needless to say, her calling and forte is promoting local brands, artists and businesses. Health, fitness and wellness is another passion shared by Joanna and her family. 

MYLA VILLANUEVA

Myla is a technology pioneer with 29 years of leadership and experience in the local and global technology industry. She is a pioneer in Mobile Software, Cloud, Big Data Analytics and Security. She is the CEO of MDI, a leading systems integrator and technology innovator which helps top corporations navigate through their digital transformations and adopt their business models, ecosystems and infrastructures to a very interconnected world. She founded the first broadband wireless company in the country and its first mobile value added software development company. Myla is a long time trustee of GoNegosyo and the PPCRV. She was awarded Ernst and Young’s first Woman Entrepreneur of the year in 2003 and was named one of the Ten Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service in 2010 for the field of Science and Technology.

JUAN CARLO CALMA

This Generation T alumnus is a lauded architect and aritst, and in more recent years, a restaurateur. He has worked with sculpture, lighting, paintings and mixed media. He is the man behind the stellar establishments Vask and ArroZeria, and was creatively responsible for their concept designs as well. As of late, Carlo has been working on resort designs that promote eco-tourism, hotel interiors and high-end residential projects. Stay tuned for a bunch of his upcoming F&B concepts.

TIM YAP

Charismatic and the life of the party, Tim is a media personality, TV host and the owner of Yaparazzi events. Born with an entrepreneurial streak, Tim is part of the team behind The Palace, Yes Please and Early Night. He is about to start a new TV show and has a boutique hotel as well as another exciting real estate project up his sleeve too! When he is not hosting and planning events, Tim, who is known for his fantastically bold sense of style is usually globetrotting or dreaming up his next big concept.

INGRID CHUA

She’s a TV presenter and Executive Producer of Star World, a columnist for the Philippine Daily Inquirer and she regularly contributes to The Huffington Post UK. Her true passion is fashion – more specifically, handbags – as her blog TheBagHagDiaries.com says it all. It has a massive following, making her a social media maven and style authority. When Ingrid is not travelling the world to attend fashion week shows and designer previews she stays very busy with many other fabulous engagements, and her two teenage sons. 

PAOLO MARTEL

Paolo is co-founder and Director of C! and Calibre magazines. His passion for fine timepieces and automobiles has made him the perfect specialist for Salcedo Auctions. He is also the Managing Director for Ikon Solutions, a leading HR company. Being involved in numerous businesses, he has recently been appointed to the board of a Fintech company that recently concluded a joint venture with a listed Malaysian company.
