Tech companies invest US$125million in Terence Kwok's tech start-up Tink Labs, funding his plans for global expansion

Generation T’s sensational tech-star Terence Kwok has secured a US$125million investment for his start-up, Tink Labs, which is the final push needed to take the company global.

Kwok, founder and chief executive of Tink Labs, developed the Handy back in 2012 to help travellers stuck without phone data. The tailor-made smartphone comes already chalk-full of maps and city guides, as well as unlimited calls, 3G internet and wi-fi connector. It was immediately picked up by hotels in Hong Kong, from boutiques like The Tribute to  the internationally-renowned Ritz Carlton, and is now used by thousands of grateful guests in fifteen other Asian citites – but Kwok is not content to stop there.

Tink Labs can now fast-track their plans for the global expansion after a hefty investment from three technology firms: FIH Mobile, Sinovation Ventures and Meitu. With plan’s already in place to expand to Europe, Kwok wants to see Handy in one million hotels in 100 different cities in the next year. At only twenty-four, the young tech-star and entrepreneur looks on track to achieve these goals, and much more.
