Meet five entrepreneurs from Mainland China on our list of 400 Leaders of Tomorrow

We just finished revealing the 400 honourees on the Gen.T List 2020 at unveiling events across the region.

To give you a taste of what to expect from the 102 young leaders on the list from Mainland China, here are five honourees that represent the tenacity and talent of all the honourees from the country this year.

For smashing her way through to an MMA championship

MMA fighter

China’s first and only UFC champion made MMA history with a knockout of then strawweight champion Jessica Andrade of Brazil in just 42 seconds in 2019. Known as ‘Magnum’ in the ring, Zhang Weili remains the champion this year, and has gained the support of more than 1.2 million fans on Weibo and 500,000 on Instagram. In March 2020, she was ranked second in the UFC’s pound-for-pound rankings.

For her impact on the startup scene in China

Co-founder and executive managing director, Impact Hub Shanghai 

Fei Xiaojing is the Shanghai founder of sustainability-focused platform Impact Hub, which has connected more than 6 million people from over 50 countries, influenced more than 200,000 changemakers in China, and provided incubation support to more than 400 startups in the past three years. Impact Hub Shanghai also has a fund for early-stage startups. Xiaojing’s second company, Makeable, is an online platform providing information and resources for entrepreneurs committed to sustainable development.

For being China’s most successful live streaming personality

Austin Li once sold 15,000 lipsticks in just five minutes, attracted an audience of more than 36 million, and garnered more than US$145 million in sales through a five-minute product feature livestream on Taobao during 11.11, China’s biggest annual day for online shopping. The so-called King of Lipstick, who has 100 million followers on social media, has become synonymous with live streaming in China and is expanding to cover skincare, too.

For powering blockchain enterprises in China

Founder and chairman, Tomorrow Technology 

Wang Mingliu has built the largest computing power centre in Sichuan province for blockchain enterprises. His company, Tomorrow Technology, has announced plans for an IPO, and he himself has received recognition from the government of the Chengdu High-tech Industrial Development Zone as the founder of a “quasi-unicorn enterprise”.

For his free-spirited charm and street-dance moves

Street dancer

Ye Yin charmed audiences with his winning smile and exuberant love for dancing, eventually emerging as the champion of national dance reality TV series Street Dance of China in 2019. The street dancer first discovered dance in an arcade in his native Shanghai, and is a member of dance unit WiikSymphony.
