據《The Guardian》的報導，推特（Twitter）宣布了一項有期限的股東權利計劃，該計劃可能會阻礙馬斯克接管經營權，也就是說，馬斯克想要在主宰全球經濟後拿下話語權將不會那麼容易。
特斯拉執行長馬斯克曾提出以 434 億美元收購該社群媒體平台，並言他希望釋放其「非凡潛力」以支持全球言論自由和民主，對此，推特董事會於 2022 年 4 月 15 日週五一致通過了一項計劃，允許現有股東以大幅折扣購買股票，以稀釋新投資者的持股，該計畫就被稱為「毒藥計劃」（poison pill plan）。
這種在金融界被稱為「毒藥」的方法表明，推特將力抗馬斯克的收購。如果股東在未經董事會批准且於 2023 年 4 月 14 日到期的交易中收購公司 15% 以上的股份，該法案將生效。
