Mukul Chawla’s appointment is effective from December 9

This week, KKR & Co Inc appointed Mukul Chawla, a managing director at Singapore state investor Temasek, to lead their firm’s growth investment strategy in the Asia-Pacific.

In his role as head of growth equity in the Asia Pacific, Mukul will focus on carrying out KKR’s plan to invest in sectors such as technology, healthcare, fintech, consumer, and other growth categories, according to the investment company in a press release on December 1. 

Mukal’s appointment will be effective as of December 9 this year and he will be based in Asia though he will also work out of KKR’s global offices such as their one in California from time to time.

Mukal himself holds quite an extensive profile. Before his appointment, he was Managing Director, Joint Head of Global Telecom, Media & Technology and Joint-Head of North America in Temasek.

He joined Temasek in 2010 and was heavily involved in building their telecom, media and technology divisions.

He also sponsored 39 technology buyouts and growth investments including Airbnb, Xiaomi, Doordash, Roblox, and Alphabet Inc’s Waymo, according to KKR.
