Zannier Phum Baitang
Siem Reap, Cambodia
A serene, high-design Khmer village perched among rice paddies and water buffalo
Set just outside Siem Reap, low-key luxury hotel brand Zannier have crafted an effortlessly rustic, ultra-relaxed sanctuary that still feels undeniably top-tier. The resort is laid out as a traditional Cambodian village across twenty acres of working rice paddies and lush, palm-dotted gardens, complete with resident water buffalo roaming the fields.
Accommodation comes in the form of 45 free-standing stilted villas, inspired by native Khmer timber houses. Outside, thatched roofs and weathered wooden boardwalks ground you in the scenery. Inside, the design pairs exposed timber, hand-carved lattice screens, and greige-toned linens, private plunge pools and spacious terraces for watching the sun sink over the paddies.
The offerings hit that sweet spot between grounded and indulgent. You can grab a bicycle to ride along the dirt trails, sip vintage liquors inside a 100-year-old converted farmhouse or swim laps in a dramatic 50-metre infinity pool. When it's time to unwind, the on-site Spa Temple uses ancient Khmer herbal recipes, steam treatments and water blessings in an architectural nod to nearby Angkor Wat.
