Soneva Fushi

Located in the Baa Atoll Unesco Biosphere Reserve, Soneva Fushi was the first resort in the Soneva empire and remains one of its best. There’s plenty here to evoke a childlike sense of wonder, from its “no news, no shoes” policy to cold rooms stocked with artisanal chocolates, overwater villas with slides that drop into the crystal blue ocean, and treehouse-like spaces to explore. It is one of the world’s most sustainable resorts, and has been 100 per cent carbon neutral since 2012, with an incredibly effective and influential approach to waste management and conservation.
