Shinta Mani Mustang

Mustang, Nepal

Rewild in style in this formerly isolated kingdom

More travellers than ever are seeking off-the-grid experiences, which is exactly what Shinta Mani Mustang offers. Mustang is a formerly isolated kingdom in northern Nepal, and the hotel is one of the first luxury properties in the region. Bill Bensley, who designed it, kept the decor uncharacteristically minimal in order to put the dramatic surrounding landscapes centre-stage. Surrounded by the Himalayas, the 29-suite hotel was built using wood, slate and stone sourced from across the Tibetan Plateau, boosted by boldly coloured textiles, including stools topped with yak wool. An all-inclusive package includes expedited immigration services, airport transfers, private guides, sunset drinks and unlimited Tibetan spa treatments—including by the hotel’s 11th-generation amchi, a doctor skilled in herbology and healing massages.
