A futuristic resort where space-age chic meats the glittering Red Sea
Rising from the turquoise waters of the Red Sea like a string of celestial pearls, Shebara Resort on Sheybarah Island is a monument to futuristic architecture and ultra-luxury. The resort's signature overwater villas, designed by Killa Design, are polished stainless-steel orbs that brilliantly reflect the surrounding sea and sky, making them appear to shimmer and dissolve into the horizon. This bold, space-age design is also deeply sustainable; the villas were prefabricated and shipped to the site to minimise environmental impact, and the entire resort is powered by a solar farm.
The interiors, described as "naturalistic futurism," evoke the elegance of a super-yacht with curved surfaces, custom furnishings and a muted material palette.
Don't miss the chance to snorkel directly from your overwater villa or take a quick boat trip to the outer reef. The Red Sea's coral and marine life here are pristine and abundant - just be sure to do so respectfully. For example, never step on the coral, and wear reef-safe sunscreen if possible.
Tatler Tip: The sunrise-facing villas are fantastic for a vibrant morning show, while villas closer to the adult-only bar, Solera, offer the best perspective for sunset cocktails over the water.
