Kayaam House is situated on a golden stretch of Tangalle’s sun-kissed coastline, with the glittering Indian Ocean to one side and lush, tropical jungle to the other. The hotel is housed in an airy white colonial building with dramatic arches and architecture that blends Buddhist motifs with tropical modernism. Ample natural light and ventilation pathways keep the place bright and breezy, but if that’s not cool enough, dive into the infinity pool shaded by fragrant frangipani trees. Kayaam House is a cosy, homely property with just six Ocean Rooms, two Palm Suites, a two-bedroom Palm Residence and a restaurant inspired by local architect Geoffrey Bawa that serves organic, seasonal Sri Lankan cuisine. It’s for guests aged 18 and above only, so leave the little ones at home.
