Tropical brutalism in a cool corner of Pererenan
Finding its home in serene Pererenan, removed—but not too far—from increasingly chaotic Canggu, Further occupies two terracotta-hued buildings on a palm-lined stretch of the neighbourhood’s main drag. Here, brick lattice walls replace ordinary windows, creating a dance between light and shadow that moves with the sun. Sunken beds dressed in dark linens add to the guest rooms’ moody aesthetic, and the breeze in the open-air shower is a treat. The ground-floor restaurant, Bar Vera, helmed by Benjamin Cross of Mason fame, is a new-generation Parisian bistro. Expect cocktails as seductive as the red earth-hued setting, and dishes that merge French and Balinese flavours; we love the goat cheese beignets with wild honey and sage, and beef tartare with sambal.
