Capella Sydney

Sydney, Australia

Modern luxury housed in a historic Sandstone building, just steps from Sydney Harbour

Capella Sydney is a stunning transformation of the heritage-listed Department of Education building (originally built in 1912) in Sydney's Sandstone Precinct. The meticulous seven-year restoration by Make Architects blends the Edwardian Baroque sandstone facade with contemporary, refined interiors of walnut, marble and an impressive art collection.

Unique facilities are anchored by the top-floor Auriga Spa, which offers a holistic wellness space featuring a stunning 20-meter heated indoor pool lit by a full-length skylight, a vitality pool, steam, sauna and ice fountain. Dining is exquisite, with the two-chef-hat awarded Brasserie 1930 showcasing Australian produce through age-old cooking techniques, and McRae Bar offering a sophisticated, Victorian-era cocktail experience. The light-filled atrium, Aperture, is crowned by the kinetic sculpture "Meadow" by DRIFT, creating a magical atmosphere for afternoon tea.

Tatler Tip: Take advantage of the complimentary pressing of five laundry items - an absolute godsend that’s a small but high-value service ensuring you look sharp throughout your stay.
