Amankora Paro
Paro, Bhutan

Bhutanese brutalism shrouded by ancient forest
Hidden in the hills above Paro town, Amankora Paro is set in a pine forest, with a sprawling garden featuring a sunken fire pit surrounded by sun loungers and towering trees, and an ethereal view of a temple perched high in the mountains. The cabin-like suites include a king-size bed, large free-standing bathtub, timber finishings and banquette window seating overlooking the surrounding forest. In the evenings, guests can ask the staff to light the bukhari wood-burning stove—found in every room—so you can fall asleep to the soothing sounds of a crackling fire. Amankora Paro is close to Bhutan’s iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery; after visiting, we recommend a traditional Bhutanese herbal hot stone bath, which draws on centuries of Ayurvedic tradition.
Tatler Tip
On request, guests can arrange an intimate one-on-one session with a monk from a nearby monastery.
