Aman-i-Khás

Bordering Ranthambore National Park, Aman-i-Khás is a minimalist safari camp designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, echoing Mughal travelling tents. Its ten canvas pavilions feature six-metre-high canopy ceilings divided by draped cotton walls, furnished in brushed steel, dark wood, and neutral tones. Each tent contains a sunken central daybed, a free-standing soaking tub, and a private veranda. The property centres on a traditional sandstone stepwell (baori) pool and an outdoor fireplace that serves as a communal gathering hub beneath the stars. Guests embark on customised open-top jeep safaris led by resident naturalists to track Bengal tigers. Dining takes place in a dedicated dining tent or amid the organic garden, featuring plant-forward, daily-harvested Indian and Western meals. The absence of permanent brick structures ensures a low environmental footprint while offering uncompromised, quiet solitude in the wilderness.
