This boutique hotel is a masterful blend of heritage and modernity. Housed in a meticulously restored 1930s remittance house, this 48-room hotel captures the essence of Singapore’s rich history while offering a unique contemporary experience. Designed by the acclaimed Woha Architects, 21 Carpenter integrates the original shophouse structure with a contemporary extension. The facade, adorned with Shanghai plaster from the 1930s, showcases Chinese calligraphy that lists remittance destinations—a poetic nod to the building’s past. This attention to detail extends throughout the property, where reclaimed Chengal timber and elegant windows from the original structure have been thoughtfully incorporated into the design. Each of the 48 rooms and suites offers guests a unique blend of heritage charm and modern luxury. Beyond its accommodation, the hotel also houses a Neo-bistro and bar, a garden terrace and a rooftop infinity pool.
