Ziyad Zolkefli

Ziyad Zolkefli’s track record is mighty impressive. The world record holder in F20 shot put continues his winning streak with a gold medal at the 11th Asean Para Games 2022 in Solo, Indonesia. This victory made it his fourth consecutive gold medal at the sporting event since 2013.

Ziyad is known for breaking world records—often his own. He smashed his previous record of 16.84m with a new one of 17.29m at the 2017 World Para Athletics Championship, surpassing it again at the 2020 Paralympic Games with an impressive 17.94m. It would have been a new world record had it not been reclassified as DNS (Did Not Start) for showing up three minutes late for the event.

He first competed at the Paralympics at the 2012 Games in London, where he took home the bronze. In 2013, he surpassed his personal best to earn the gold at the first International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Championships in Lyon, France, winning the gold at the IPC again in 2017. Since then, Ziyad has won the gold twice at the Asian Para Games (2018, 2014), and four times at the ASEAN Para Games (2022, 2017, 2015, 2014).
