A tough-talking critic, Zhang Wei has a wide knowledge of human sciences, art, science and technology and economy. With profound philosophical thinking to boot, Wei is known as “one of the most important art critics in China” and “a leader of youth art curation and artistic philosophy”. Wei has frequently been invited to write art reviews for various international art exhibitions such as Venice Biennale, Documenta in Kassel, Germany, and the Istanbul Biennial. He has been honoured by the International Awards for Art Criticism and was named one of the Power Station of Art’s Emerging Curators. In June 2017, Wei commented on the Chinese Pavilion on display at Venice Biennial in his Method of Curation for the Venice National Pavilion, which was one of the most influential international art reviews of the year.
