The young champion proving Malaysia’s strength in jiu-jitsu in global arenas
Daughter of former national squash player Azlan Iskandar, Zara Aaliya Azlan grew up surrounded by sport before discovering her own path in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. What began as an activity inspired by her sister has evolved into an international competitive career, with Zara emerging as one of Malaysia’s brightest young combat sports talents. She has won gold at the AJP World Youth Jiu-Jitsu Championship (2025), JJIF World Cup (2025) and IBJJF Europeans (2026). She was also the first Malaysian to claim gold at the Jiu-Jitsu Asian Cup (2025). Her achievements reflect technical excellence and the growing prominence of jiu-jitsu in Malaysia.
