One of the youngest, most skilled sports figures in the Philippines

Yuka Saso has set the standards higher for many of the Philippines’ professional golfers. In 2016, she took home a gold medal from the World Junior Girls Championship team event. She has also joined the 2018 Women’s Victorian Open as part of the Ladies European Tour.

In 2018, Saso secured a historic gold medal win at the Asian Games women’s team and women’s individual events; in the same year, she took part in the Summer Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires, Argentina where she almost bagged a medal.

Saso came back at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan where she finished 9th in the women’s individual event.

Did You Know?

Saso was born to a Filipina mother and a Japanese father. In 2009, she started training for golf at a tender age of eight; one of her role models was Northern Irish golfer Rory Mcllroy.
