As a lawyer, Yozua is the founder and managing partner of Makes & Partners Law Firm with expertise in corporate law, transnational mergers and acquisitions, and others. The son of cardiologist Komang Makes is a member of the supervisory board of the Indonesian Investment Authority, a new institution inaugurated in late 2020. This year, Yozua is in The Legal 500 Hall of Fame for capital markets and Indonesia Top Lawyers, according to Asia Business Law Journal, alongside other prominent Indonesian lawyers such as Hotman Paris Hutapea and Todung Mulya Lubis.

With his wife, Dewi Makes, Yozua founded the Plataran Group. The hospitality business consists of natural-modern style venues and restaurants as well as resorts and yacht services. At the heart of Plataran is a mission to contribute to Indonesia by showcasing its richness to the world. One example was the recent All-Star Legends concert in May, which highlighted the exotic beauty of its resorts while channelling its proceeds into charity efforts. Moreover, with the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Plataran launched the YouTube talk show Bersama Generasi Kini or Berani, which tells stories about accomplished Indonesian youths.
