Yong Yoon Li is the fourth generation of the Royal Selangor family business, and considers himself a steward of the long-established and internationally recognised pewter brand, which was founded by his great-grandfather in 1885.

Yong, who holds a Master’s in Business Administration, worked in the motorsports and automotive industry before he was invited to join the family business. For ten years, he first worked as a design engineer in Formula 1 with Team Lotus International and Nissan Motorsports in the UK, before returning home to start up his own boutique sports-car manufacturing company, TVR Sports Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Yong joined Royal Selangor in 2005, and was later appointed as executive director in 2012. Yong runs the company alongside his cousin Chen Tien Yue, the only other family member besides Yong’s father Tan Sri Yong Poh Kon to serve in the company.

He is married to Grace Leung, and together they have two daughters.
