Emerging artist Yao Hao combines an aesthetic heavily influenced by Western contemporary art with the most traditional of Chinese art forms, ink painting. His works frequently depict what appear to be people from recent history against plain backgrounds, their expressions abstracted to the point of unreadability and their emotions ambiguous. He staged his debut solo show at Line Gallery in Beijing in 2021.
