Managing director and group CEO/Deputy chairman, ComfortDelGro Corporation/SBS Transit and VICOM
With a global fleet of more than 40,000 vehicles, ComfortDelGro operates in seven countries, including China, the UK, Ireland, Australia, Vietnam and Malaysia. Its businesses range from bus, taxi, rail and car rentals to insurance-broking services and outdoor advertising. ComfortDelGro’s managing director and Group CEO is Yang Ban Seng, who is concurrently deputy chairman of another major Singapore transportation provider, SBS Transit and VICOM. He is also non-independent executive director of ComfortDelGro and a member of the investment, digitalisation and sustainability committees.
Previously, Yang was CEO of the company’s taxi business, overseeing the operations of Comfort Transportation and CityCab. Before going into the vehicular world, Yang worked in the fields of education, home affairs and trade; he was assistant director at the Ministry of Education, deputy director of the Ministry of Home Affairs and secretary for co-operatives at the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC).
Yang graduated from the University of Manchester with an undergraduate degree in Operations Research and Statistics, and the National University of Singapore with an MBA.
