Xuan Hinh

While studying at the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema, Xuan Hinh quickly garnered attention for his exceptional acting ability. He was invited to teach at the academy but declined, choosing instead to pursue his passion for performance. In 1998, his role in Cu Sut at the Laughter Festival marked a turning point in his career. The performance was met with widespread acclaim, leading to a two-month run at the Vietnam-Soviet Union Friendship Cultural Palace.

Over the years, Xuan Hinh became a household name with a repertoire of celebrated performances, including The Wine-Drinking Husband, The Fortuneteller Goes to Market, Xuan Hinh Goes to Ask for a Wife, and Xuan Hinh Trains for Beauty Pageants. His comedic dominance in the North throughout the late 1990s and 2000s was undeniable, with audiences drawn to his sharp wit, incisive satire, and ability to convey profound social commentary. Beyond Cheo and comedy, he also excelled in other traditional art forms, such as hat xam, quan ho, cai luong, and chau van.

Though no longer as active as in his prime, Xuan Hinh remains an enduring icon of Vietnamese comedy, remembered for his tireless dedication to the craft and his significant cultural contributions.
