The lead in Wang Xiaozhen’s 2020 meta-realistic film Love Poem, which takes a hard look at married life, is his own wife, Zhou Qing, blurring the lines between fact and fiction. Shot on a shoestring budget of 30,000 yuan (about US$4,700), it won the Best Feature Film and Best Actor at the 14th First International Film Festival.
