A digital economy vanguard who led the way towards a paperless nation

Wong Thean Soon co-founding My E.G Services in 2000, which provided a variety of government to citizen (G2C) and e-government services from renewal of driving license and road tax to immigration documents, to the public through a digital platform, kickstarted Malaysia’s initiative towards a digital economy. He is among Malaysia’s 50 richest people with a net worth of USD470 million.

An engineering graduate from the National University of Singapore, Wong has more than two decades experience in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector specialising in designing, implementing and the maintenance of communication applications on the internet. He started his career in ICT in 1995 when he co-founded Cybersource Pte Ltd, where he oversaw the development of products like PictureMail, an integrated graphical e-mail package licensed to Sony and Global Messaging System, which was licensed to paging operators in the region.

He later founded TechnoChannel Technologies Sdn Bhd where he developed and marketed internet devices through marketing and manufacturing partnerships with a number of MNCs. In 1999, he listed the company on Nasdaq before leaving to establish MyEG.

Wong is also one of the founding board members of Endeavor Malaysia, a global entrepreneurship movement, which supports high-impact entrepreneurs behind fast-growing startups.
