Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai is a veteran in the Malaysian media landscape, boasting a career that spans nearly four decades. Recently appointed chairman for Bernama, the Malaysian National News Agency, he is also the group advisor of Star Media Group Berhad and an adjunct professor at UKM’s Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Wong is no stranger in Bernama as he served on the board of governors from 2004-2010 and its supervisory council from 2010-2014. In addition to the above accolades, Wong is the first Malaysian to be elected to the Paris-based World Editors Forum and was a chairman of the Asia News Network, an alliance of 22 leading news organisations.

A strong advocate of moderation, commonalities, and positive values for a well-balanced and sustainable society, Wong is a firm believer in diversity and believes it is important to emphasise the common values of all religions and cultures to build bridges.

Apart from planning to bring Bernama to newer heights, Wong is also working on a memoir, which he hopes will help fill the missing gaps of history interestingly with more colour and anecdotes.
