Indonesia is one of the biggest producers of paper products in the world. One of the players who have become successful manoeuvring through this lucrative industry is Winarko Sulistyo, one of Indonesia’s wealthiest men whose net worth is $1.2 billion.

A large chunk of Sulistyo’s fortune comes from his paper packaging company, Fajar Surya Wisesa. He founded the company along with Airlangga Hartarto in 1988, where he served as President Director until he was appointed Commissioner in 2014. The company produces industrial packaging paper, such as coated duplex boxboard and corrugated cardboard, and has major consumer-goods companies as clients including Nestlé, Unilever and Samsung.

In 2019, Sulistyo sold a 55 per cent stake of his business to Siam Cement Thailand for US$557 million. The company has a production capacity of more than 1 million tons per year.
