A hospitality entrepreneur with an innovative bent who presides over Singapore-born The Lo & Behold Group

Wee Teng Wen is the founder and managing partner of The Lo & Behold Group, a hospitality company founded in 2005 that has re-invigorated the F&B and hotel industries with its creative concepts. Wee’s first establishment was Loof, a now defunct rooftop bar set amid greenery on top of Odeon Towers, which he opened when he was just 25. Loof made a name with its Instagrammable setting and unique South-East Asian cocktails, paving the way for Wee to subsequently launch a business empire that includes the Michelin-starred modern French restaurant Odette, Tanjong Beach Club, and The Warehouse Hotel.

In 2024, the hospitality giant undertook its most ambitious project yet: transforming the former Nan Chiau High School into a massive multi-disciplinary lifestyle enclave named New Bahru. This 20,156-square-foot space aims to be a destination that celebrates homegrown brands across F&B, retail, wellness, and more.

As Wee shares, “We’re building a lifestyle destination that is driven by discovery... where people can come without a plan, yet spend a day wandering around and leave feeling inspired.” The multi-disciplinary project’s food and beverage outlets, in collaboration with Sunray Group Holdings, will be a major draw. The lineup features acclaimed pilot concepts by Keirin Buck (Le Bon Funk), Mirko Febbrile (Somma), and Dominic Tan (Odem), alongside cult favourites relocating, such as Bjorn Shen’s Artichoke (now Artichoke Pizza Parlor) and Rishi Naleendra’s Kotuwa.

Beyond his business ventures, Wee established a staff relief fund in 2020 to aid employees facing difficulties due to the pandemic, and also started Clink Clink, an online bottle shop offering rare and limited-edition wines.
