Wang Hongchao and You Peng grew up together in Suzhou and are product design graduates of ECAL and RCA, respectively. With distinct personalities, they have unique viewpoints on design. In 2012, they jointly founded Benwu Studio in New York. In the early days they mainly focused on new materials-related experiments and technical exploration. In 2014, interior designer Ge Wei (RCA) and product designer Deng Qiyun (ECAL) joined the Studio as partners. Benwu Studio has gradually become a multi-disciplinary design agency with expertise and experience in product, set and interior design. With offices in both Shanghai and Beijing, the studio had undertaken a number of successful collaborations with clients such as Hermès, Vacheron Constantin, Cassina, Isabel Marant, Swarovski, Perrier-Jouët and Rémy Martin, and engaged in high-end villa, gourmet restaurant and office space design.
