Chief executive officer, Institut Keusahawanan Negara (INSKEN)
This social innovation and entrepreneurship leader is working to decentralise opportunity and strengthen inclusive economic participation across Malaysia
Viviantie Sarjuni is the chief executive officer of INSKEN, where she leads national efforts to build entrepreneurial capability and create more inclusive economic opportunities. Growing up with sisters in a society that often undervalued girls’ potential, she developed a strong commitment to ensuring talent is supported by access, confidence and opportunity regardless of background.
A Chevening Scholar with over 20 years of leadership experience, she previously served as CEO of Sabah Creative Economy and Innovation Centre (SCENIC), helping position Sabah among Malaysia’s leading states for social enterprise development. She is also President of Chevening Alumni Malaysia (2024–2026) and actively promotes rural social entrepreneurship and women’s economic empowerment.
Sarjuni believes nation-building requires collaboration between women and men as partners in creating inclusive workplaces. In 2026, she became the first Malaysian recipient of the World Economic Forum Public Social Innovator Award 2026, recognising her contributions to social entrepreneurship. Over the next five years, she aims to nurture empathetic, inclusive leaders and expand decentralised entrepreneurial opportunities for underserved communities.
Today, as a woman leader, I still encounter moments of scepticism. But rather than seeing this as a barrier, I see it as a responsibility to help challenge the status quo and open more doors for the women who will come after us
