The respected Malaysian businessman is also a noted philanthropist

Renowned as the visionary behind Berjaya Corporation (Bcorp), one of Malaysia’s major conglomerates, Tan Sri Vincent Tan has made a significant impact in diverse sectors, ranging from retail and gaming to property development and hospitality. In early 2023, he transitioned from his role as BCorp’s chairman to become an advisor to the board.

Beyond his business successes, Tan is recognised for his philanthropic endeavours. He has pledged to donate half of his wealth to charitable causes, as well as intending to establish vegetarian restaurants at various locations and participate in the government’s Menu Rahmah initiative, which offers meals as low as RM5 to alleviate the cost of living. Through the Better Malaysia Foundation, he seeks to address the housing affordability challenge for low-income households, particularly the B40 group. His dedication to charity work extends to his involvement with the Tzu Chi Foundation, highlighting his commitment to social welfare.

Looking to the future, Tan has ambitious plans for the company, including the development of more Four Seasons properties in Okinawa and Yokohama, Japan.

Tan Sri Vincent Tan turned vegetarian a few years ago after joining Tzu Chi Foundation, and he’s been the owner of football club Cardiff City since 2010.
