Chairman and managing director, CK Asset Holdings Limited
Li Ka-shing’s empire is in safe hands, with his son Victor Li steering his companies into the future
The eldest son of Hong Kong’s number one tycoon, Li Ka-shing, Victor Li has taken on the somewhat awe-inspiring task of attempting to follow in his father’s footsteps. In 2018 he took over as the chairman and managing director of CK Asset Holdings Limited, and the chairman and group co-managing director of CK Hutchison Holdings Limited. Both companies are gigantic conglomerates with holdings that range from real estate to telecoms to infrastructure to ports to retail. He is also the Chairman of CK Infrastructure Holdings Limited and CK Life Sciences Int’l, (Holdings) Inc.
He started his career running the company’s Husky Energy business in Canada, and, after returning to Hong Kong to work at Cheung Kong headquarters in 1990, he quickly rose through the ranks of the Group's management and that of its many subsidiaries.
He is also a non-executive director of Power Assets Holdings Limited, a non-executive director and the deputy chairman of HK Electric Investments Limited, and a director of HSBC, as well as the deputy chairman of the Li Ka Shing Foundation. A member of the Standing Committee of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, he is also vice chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.
He and his wife, Cynthia, have four children.
