The honorary chairman of Li & Fung, the supply chain conglomerate set up more than a century ago by his grandfather, Victor Fung is also an independent non-executive director of jewellery giant Chow Tai Fook.

He is also a noted philanthropist: through their foundation, established in 2006, he and his brother William have made numerous donations to educational institutions, including Harvard, Tsinghua University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It also offers gifted youngsters the chance to experience different cultures through the Fung Scholars Programme, and promotes transformative Asian thinking worldwide through The Asia Global Institute at The University of Hong Kong, of which Victor is chairman of the advisory board. He is also chairman of the 2022 Foundation, a think tank that researches Hong Kong’s long-term competitiveness; and a non-official member of the Chief Executive’s Council of Advisers on Innovation and Strategic Development.

Fung’s many former roles include member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council; chairman of the Airport Authority Hong Kong; chairman of the Council of The University of Hong Kong; chairman of the Greater Pearl River Delta Business Council; and chairman of the Paris-based International Chamber of Commerce.

A recipient of the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 2010, he is married to Julia, with whom he has three children.
