The ‘unkabogable’ star gives back by raising funds for charity and supporting the LGBQT+ community

Vice Ganda was born as the youngest in a brood of six in Sta. Cruz, but that didn’t stop the former Jose Marie Borja Viceral from dreaming big. The entertainer's career began in Manila’s comedy bars, like The Library and Punchline, in 1997. This exposure led to guest spots in TV shows and film, but it would take more than a decade before Vice Ganda’s big break—becoming a co-host of the popular noontime program It’s Showtime and the star of the megahit film Petrang Kabayo in 2010.

Vice Ganda—whose stage name means “beautiful vice” and who identifies as non-binary (and goes by both he/him and she/her pronouns)—refashioned herself to embody high camp, dazzling fans with spectacular style as she flexed even harder. Vice headlined several blockbuster movies, performed in sold-out concerts, published her first book (the satirical President Vice: Ang Bagong Panggulo ng Pilipinas), and launched her own makeup brand, Vice Cosmetics.

Expanding effortlessly into the digital space, the star accumulated a combined total of over 49 million followers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. During the pandemic, Vice Ganda rallied online followers to support the LGBQT+ community and to raise funds for charity and emergency relief—all while making a nation laugh.
