A serial entrepreneur driving Malaysia’s coffee revolution and taking a homegrown brand to the global stage

A driving force behind Malaysia’s largest homegrown coffee chain, Venon Tian has helped shape Zus Coffee into one of Southeast Asia’s fastest growing specialty coffee brands with a loyal and ever-expanding community of coffee lovers.

He has been instrumental in transforming Zus Coffee from a delivery-centric startup into a regional powerhouse with over 900 stores and 6,000 employees across Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand and the Philippines. Since joining the company in 2020, he has overseen its strategy, structure and execution, ensuring that scale never compromises quality or culture. Under his leadership, Zus Coffee is on track to surpass 1,000 stores by the end of 2025, while preparing to enter new markets such as Indonesia and Pakistan. Its first store in Morocco is slated to open in 2026, marking a significant milestone in Tian’s vision to expand the brand’s footprint beyond Asean markets.

A serial entrepreneur before joining Zus, Tian co-founded ventures spanning e-commerce, retail and smart technology services, experiences that honed his expertise in operational systems, innovation and sustainable growth. A law graduate from the United Kingdom, he continues to emphasise structure and discipline as the backbone of long-term success.

Recognised with the EY Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2023, Tian remains committed to driving Zus Coffee’s mission to make specialty coffee accessible to all while positioning the brand as a global symbol of innovation, accessibility and excellence.
