He took over as chairman of TSMC in 2024

C.C. Wei, once praised by founder Morris Chang as “the most prepared CEO”, officially took office as chairman and president of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) on June 4, 2024, marking the end of the dual leadership era following Chang’s succession. Wei holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in electrical engineering from National Chiao Tung University, as well as a PhD in electrical engineering from Yale University. He has long been deeply involved in TSMC and possesses extensive practical experience in technology operations and management.

In 2024, TSMC reached multiple milestones, continuing to expand its leading position in the global semiconductor industry. TSMC also received good news from its global manufacturing sites, including the opening of the Kumamoto plant in Japan, the first chip manufacturing facility in Arizona, US, and the groundbreaking of the first semiconductor wafer plant in Dresden, Germany. Wei is determined to lead TSMC to become a global leader in the semiconductor field and to drive the company’s expansion in global markets.
