Visionary technologist propelling Vietnam’s digital prowess onto the global stage

With intellectual foundations laid at Moscow State University, where he earned his doctorate in Mechanical Mathematics in 1978, Truong Gia Binh has orchestrated one of Southeast Asia’s most compelling business narratives. Beyond his chairmanship of FPT Corporation, this distinguished polymath also presides over the Private Economic Development Research Department and the Vietnam Digital Agriculture Association.

In what has become the stuff of Vietnamese entrepreneurial legend, Binh and twelve fellow scientists established the FPT Food Technology Company in 1988—an enterprise that would evolve into the technological powerhouse known today simply as FPT. Under his insightful stewardship, the company has blossomed into a billion-dollar concern, rightfully claiming its place among Vietnam’s Top 5 strongest brands and Top 12 most valuable enterprises, as recognised at the prestigious “100 Most Valuable Brands in Vietnam 2024” ceremony curated by Brand Finance.

Academic recognition came early for Binh, with his appointment as Associate Professor by the State in 1991. His international influence was further celebrated in 2013 when Japan’s venerable Nikkei Media Group bestowed upon him the coveted Nikkei Asian Prize—an acknowledgment of his transformative impact on Vietnam’s burgeoning technology sector.
