“Fashion has been a part of my life since the day I was born,” says Trunan Chandran, second son of revered designer (and Asia’s Most Stylish honouree), Dato Seri Bernard Chandran. So it is written that fashion and family are inextricably linked for the finance professional. “My dad,” who is one of Trunan’s style icons, “has pushed boundaries time and again and he has taught me a lot on how to develop my own personal style and for that, I am tremendously fortunate.”

While Trunan walks and looks like a nobility, his casual chic style is built on a macro of T-shirts, jeans and perfectly coiffed hair. Where he expresses his personality is through his jewellery. “I love wearing my rings and necklaces,” and he has quite an impressive collection, with his favourites all ornate and all inevitably leading to an endearing family story.

He shares a picture of his favourite ring and says, “The tanzanite pinky ring is extremely special to me… This is because when my brother Tanzanite (third son of Bernard Chandran) turned 21, my dad gave him these stones as a gift and Tanzanite decided to make all the boys in our family a pinky ring.”

This uninhibited and unique style makes him irresistible company, as proven by his stacked social calendar. He is also that rare breed of gentleman who comfortably buys women’s shirts if he likes the print and wears them with a carefree confidence, embodying the very height of healthy masculinity.
