Tran Trung Dung

Tran Trung Dung holds a multifaceted set of roles that underscore his expertise across clinical practice, medical technology, and academia. At VinUni University, he concurrently serves as the Head of the Orthopedic and Trauma Department (College of Health Sciences) and the Scientific Director of the 3D Technology in Medicine Lab. His academic influence extends globally, serving as a Visiting Professor at Osaka Metropolitan University (Japan). Furthermore, he presides over the field as President of the Vietnam Society of 3D Technology in Medicine and serves as Head of the Medical Committee for the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

Before these roles, he held key management positions, including Deputy Director and Head of the Orthopedic and Trauma Department at Saint Paul's General Hospital (Hanoi), alongside his tenure as Head of the Orthopedic and Trauma Sub-department within the Department of Surgery at Hanoi Medical University.

Over his 20-year career, Professor Trần Trung Dũng has consistently demonstrated exceptional clinical volume and broad expertise in complex orthopedic procedures. His surgical record establishes him as a leader in joint restoration, with over 1,000 hip replacement surgeries and 500 knee replacements to his name. His command of minimally invasive techniques is further evidenced by nearly 10,000 knee arthroscopies, 500 shoulder arthroscopies, and more than 1,000 endoscopic procedures for conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome. Beyond routine replacement, he has completed nearly 100 complex joint replacements (shoulder, elbow, and smaller joints), alongside over 400 intricate limb-salvage surgeries for bone and soft-tissue cancers.

Recognized as a "Golden Generation" figure who laid the foundation for orthopedic and musculoskeletal surgery in Vietnam, he has authored dozens of scientific research papers highly regarded by domestic and international experts, and participated in the authorship of over 10 specialized books.

He maintains an extensive international presence through active membership in several of the world's most prestigious medical organizations: the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Asia Pacific Knee, Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Society, and the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association. Globally, he is also affiliated with the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS), and serves as an Executive Board Member of the Vietnam Orthopaedic Association.
